I can't believe I'm actually doing this...I'm starting a blog. The reason "why?" comes from a good place though, so I feel at least somewhat justified in embarking on this egregiously self-promotional endeavor only because it's not actually promoting me. Nope. Not this blog. This blog is going to be different than most because it's not my personal blog - it's my Jeeps’ | @OFFZGRD's epic existential journey; a modern-day Illiad on 35-inch mud-terrain tires!
So then what is @OFFZGRD? Well to understand what OFFZGRD is we have to understand where "it" - the spirit of unabated exploration - came from. Indeed we have to crack open the proverbial archives, wipe off the digital cobwebs and rediscover the origins of 'Merica. She was my first love on four wheels - a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. I bought her bone-stock from a fancy dealership down in San Diego with a down-payment I secured by selling my 3-Series BMW. Yeah, I'm admitting it. I used to drive a beemer and man was that a great car! I kept it absolutely pristine. Seats leather-treated, floorboards always vacuumed, paint polished and waxed to a shiny sheen. In other words, totally boring!
Not ‘Merica though. She’s cut from a different trim. Whenever I show photos from my adventures, people always ask, "How did you get there?" It’s the same concept when people look at a great photograph and ask, “What camera do you use?” The answer is simple: My eye. Jeeps are no different. They are just vehicles. But unlike cameras, they take on a personality of their own because every trip yields new lessons and experiences applicable to everyday life. So, very much like the dozens of scratches on my side panels, each has it’s own story.
Sure, the whole point of writing a blog is to share experiences and knowledge to like-minded folks. And that's exactly what I'm gonna do. I'm going to write exactly how I speak (DISCLAIMER: With copious amounts of cuss-words as well as some hopefully well-articulated personal observations punctuated by the occasional interlude about world history and maybe even some obscure facts about the natural world!)
So here goes; I'm starting a fucking blog! Yup. The guy who HATES selfies, social media and anything to do with self-promotion is going to share some deep, dark Jeeping secrets as well as how I find the coolest places on the planet.
Here’s a preview of coming attractions…
